Pictures you would expect to see in a horror film 5

The shot angle on this photograph is eye-level.
The type of shot I have used for this photograph is an ELS-extra long shot. I have used this shot to show the audience the background surrounding, letting the audience know information about this character which could also lead to effects and fears which can be created from this picture. This can make the audience seem uneasy, scary and worried for what is about to happen. The fact that the characters face is hidden can create tension and make it uneasy for the audience as it feels like the character is trying to hide something (her past, Identity). The way she sinks in with the background could be representing she is evil or waiting for someone. If I done this picture again I would make it clearer and would change the lighting to also make it clearer.

Pictures you would expect to see in a horror film 4

The shot angle I have used for this photograph is as low/worms eye.
The type of shot I have used for this photograph is a LS- Long shot. I have used this type of angle as it gives the effect of this character being over powering and controlling. It also gives the impression that this character is going to be a main part also leading to a big important role of the plot in the story line. This angle and type of shot makes the audience feel scared, worried and eager. This part of the film will be a main part leading into the climax of the film which is crucial for the audience viewers. The background image makes the viewers know this character is alone and in a dark and dingy place (train station) this could lead to lots of climaxes and deaths suicides (anything that could happen at the train stations). I was trying to recreate a hospital/psycho patient that had broken loose in the train station, I done this by making my character where a red band representing she can from a hospital and her being flipped over her face could mean that she is possessed or a psycho. The contrast with her skin and her clothing gives off a dark cold feeling for the audience making her seem evil/untouchable like a ghost. If I would do this picture again I would move the lighting to create a better effect on the photograph.

Pictures you would expect to see in a horror film 3

The shot angle of this photograph is an eye-level shot.
The type of shot on the photograph is an ECU- Extreme closeup. I used this shot to reveal very small details in the scene. It is used to reveal horror and to show a mystery in some detail (how the detective picks up on or to show some small clue. The effect this photograph creates is tense for the audience. This is the crucial time where most facts about this character will be revealed, which would be shown from a detective angle. This also means that this character has been mysterious which could make the audience feel uneasy. The mood created from this photograph is uneasy from the angle and shot type I have chosen to use.If I could do this again I would want there to be a back ground image to make the audience know where this person has come from, to give them a background view of this character.

Pictures you would expect to see in a horror film 2

The shot angle of this photograph is an eye-level shot.
The type of shot on the photograph is a Cu-close up shot. I have used this shot to reveal detail with just showing the head and shoulders. The mood created from this photograph is tense, uneasy and scared.  The close angle makes it seem that the character isn't afraid and not afraid to hide anything about her past as it gives us a lot of detail from this shot. However with her hair covered over her face this could make the audience feel as if she is hiding something which would create more tension. I wanted the hair to cover the face to create the effect of this character hiding her personality and image. This is showing the audience that this is a character to keep an eye on, leading to people not knowing her personality making her seem even more suspicious and making the audience even this if she is possessedIf I could do this again I would make the characters hair and make-up look scruffier as if she has lost all power and self control.

Pictures you would expect to see in a horror film 1

The shot angle I used for this image is called an Eye-level angle.
The type of shot I have used for this photograph is an Ms- medium shot. I have used this shot so it just shows the character from the waist to above the head, this lets the audience get a feel for this character like what she is wearing (camouflager which could link in with the general setting in the film) and how she is directly looking at the audience as if she has nothing to be afraid from. The white background makes this shot more dramatic in the contrast of what she is wearing. The angle and type of shot I have used for this image creates tension for the viewers, as if something bad may happen to this character or this character will do something bad. If I was going to do this image again i would have it less blurry and more sharpen to create tension within the piece.

What is suspense?

sus·pense/səˈspens/

Noun:
  1. A state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen.
  2. A quality in a work of fiction that arouses excited expectation or uncertainty about what may happen.
Suspense is a state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. Suspense can also be the reader/audience is left hanging. Thriller and horror movies use this as a key element technique to engage the audience, keep them interested and want to know the ending. Suspense is that "on-edge" feeling when watching a movie or reading a book that makes you think that something is going to happen. It can help emphasize and also make important or final moments more memorable. Suspense is not only created in simpler moments more memorable. Suspense is also not created in simpler moments such as the victim being stalked but is generally conflict, about the obstacles between the hero and his goal.

Why study the media and why is it so powerful

Why study the media?
We study the media because it gives us information on what is happening in the world, how it is a form of communication which helps people around the world to communicate with other people and influences us on the decisions we make.  It helps telling us from good and bad, influences us on the way we dress, how we speak and what music we listen too. The media is also like the subject history, they way we have interrupted the past into what we are today and to learn from any of the mistakes we have made.
We also study media because it is a source of information for the younger and older generations. From a young age people have spent most of their time learning from the media industry. It is all around our homes so in some case even before some kids have started school they are already learning and developing such skills from the books that are read to them, from the TV programmes they watch and more.
Another reason why we study the media is because we are and have been exposed of what they are saying and telling us, most people find it a main hobby and talk about it in their daily lives which could lead more people joining them in finding out what they are talking about. It also helps us learn new technology which could help us cure diseases and support us in our developing future.
We also study media because it makes us learn and understand each other. I also believe this because they control the media and news that goes around the world which can dramatically influence our ideas and thoughts. It also defines where we are on the world and where we stand with other people that surround us. We also study the media because as it is a major source of our culture and entertainment which also fit into the entertainment and hobby side of it, which some people find enjoying and spend most of their lives doing.
The final reason why I believe we study the media as I think it gives us a head start in life.  Unlike some developing countries we have the upper hand on life and are learning more and more skills which could help us in the future. As we know what is happening around the world we now know what we want to do when we are older and how we can make it to the top, this also has a very huge effect on society as children are the ‘new’ generation which could affect the way everybody lives from how the grow up with the media.
Why is the media so powerful?
The media is so powerful that it has a huge effect on the society. They way we dress, what we are allowed to do and what rules we allowed to and not break. Every second we are being tested, observed and watch on the way we act especially by the media, which has also come from the media. It has such a big effect on people that it controls the way we act and how we act and feel, the way we can easily follow people’s opinion even if they are wrong and get easily lead into war without even knowing the consequences. The society is lead by the government which have most power over us, they control the way in which the government works, which the media has a huge effect on leading to what happens and what we believe in life which could affect us for the rest of our life’s.
